History and foundation

• Aviation in Ethiopia was introduced as far back as 1920.
• This small Air Force began with the arrival of “Potez 25-A2” aircrafts to Addis Ababa on 18 August 1929.

• During Ethio-Italian war (1935) the small AF Was completely destroyed. 
• In 1942 small flying school established with three Tiger moths and three Cessna’s. The management of the flying school was led by the American aviator Col J. Robinson.
• Training facilities at Lideta airport were inadequate for building up an effective air force.
• In 1946 the new Air Force training center established at DebreZeit /HararMeda/
